I lined up in back because it was one of those days where I knew there was no gas in the tank to run my handy vac of a motor. The 7 km course was flat and consisted of Katy Trail like gravel sections, tight twisty single track, a few wooden bridges and constructed obstacles and a grass field. The highlight of the course was this sweet jump (the photo does not do it justice).

Unsupervised
Chula left me. She claims she is returning in a week or so and I planned on doing what most of you would do unsupervised, these and building one of these. Saturday I started on the road bike and planned on a gravel ride in the afternoon. About 2 hours into the road ride my seat post broke. With Chula states away I had to ride home. I used a velcro strap to kinda hold the saddle (yes MacDaddy I got a new seat) in place but had to ride (about 1.5 hours) basically standing. I have heard rumors about people that have had their "bits" polished and did 3 hour rides standing. Insane. If you have not tried riding standing more than 5 minutes, don't try. I was cooked and skipped the afternoon ride but got a call from Doc who gave me a ride to Spanish Lake.

It was a nice little double. Did I mention it was hot? By the end I was suffering like a dehydrated pig on its way to a slaughter house. It was a great race and better than sanding drywall.
