Opps I crapped my pants.

Shotgun promised great trails last summer in Alabama at the Bump-N-Grind race, but grown-up life got in the way. This year, in an effort to avoid being a grownup, I jumped in the passenger seat of Shot's coaster for the 18-hour techno and German dance music trip. Shot drives a little more conservatively than he rides. Rather than driving pace lines in his car, he drafts and tail guns. I woke up and he cheerfully pointed out, “You are lucky you have been sleeping. We have been pace lining for about 30 minutes averaging between 80-100 mph." I needed these while he passed trucks over 100 mph. Driving openers? Race report here.

The 51 miles of trails are worth the trip. The flowing single track with double track tossed in allows for an occasional drinking and eating sections. Trails were a changing mix of roots, rocks, sand and hard pack with some sections full throttle and others demanding closer attention. Trails builders have been busy constructing bridges to keep your feet mostly dry and nice bench cuts. The pine-covered ridges, reached by @6km of climbing, descend into hardwood bottoms. Bottom line, if you want to make a trip and have room in the car for me and my Depends, I am ready to bail on grown-up life for single track anytime.
