This year we got:- Pink toothbrush - always useful and standard mom gift and I like pink. However, there was only one for us so I guess we are sharing.
- Green cookie decorating gel - I typically never put gel on my cookies but St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner.
- Small bottle of GreatValue grape juice - I like grape juice but typically never buy it, nice gift. We each get 5 ounces.
- Curious Kittens 2011 Calender - I have a cat. Who does not like a calender with a new kitten every month?
- Nov/Dec 2010 Issue of History, The official magazine of the History Channel. - This was clearly swiped from a waiting room. What do I do with stolen property from my Mom?
Now as a proper son I will write a thank you note. It will start with. "Thank you for all the wonderful gifts but you really shouldn't have....."

My initial comment was that I was amazed that you could guess the gift before opening. I couldn't believe that and upon a double check, I was was right (or should I say wrong).
There's your upside. "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get."
