Staycation....

My truck is no longer my truck and I am not buying another car. I was trying to bum a ride to this, however it was easier to find a ride here. So I stayed home and rode this on Saturday. Fast, challenging up and down single track at under 15 minutes bike ride from my door.
Sometimes group rides in the Rolling Sitcom are blood sport. Sunday's roll out included more than normal heckling. I thought "I am on the wrong ride. I should turn around now and go home and nap."

I should of listened to those thoughts. Half way through the ride I found myself between two leaders and the first chasing group. I sat up and waited for the chasing group. We finally caught the lead group when they sat up. Once we caught them it was predictable

"What happened? We were not even going that hard."

My canned response, "Want to see my Cat. 5 license? It is even expired now that I have been humiliated so many times on group rides."

We continued to coast till everyone rejoined. More smack talking. The next rise brought accelerations and shattered the group again. Me being shattered.

Another regroup and more "I was not even trying to drop you."

The next rise and I was done. I could not turn the legs to chase and never caught sight of the two leaders again, who were separately time trailing back. I crawled back with the gruppetto, broken. I hope I can get a ride to the next race. Please help.

I'm wavering between Dogweed and CB. I could be pushed towards CB if I've got a co-pilot. Email me tomorrow.
