Home sweet home...

Living in a foreign country seems romantic. I lived that dream for two years in Guatemala. Always looking for adventure, I applied to a job in Chile at a university and got selected for an interview. Then I had to seriously consider this option. Started the research, contacted long lost Chilean friends, looked into selling the house and jumping ship to the southern hemisphere. It was a tangible option, but I had to check this place out for myself.

My connecting flights were late, and I missed the flight to Santiago and had to get a flight to Buenos Aires then connect to Santiago. I was the last person on the flight and shared three seats with a 49 year old Pirtle look-alike. We began chatting. Conversation progressed easily and comfortably, like chatting with an old friend. Maybe the airplane wine helped. Conversation drifted to where we lived and work. He was from LA. I asked what he did in LA and he joked "I am a porn star." I laughed it off. Conversation then drifted to why his first marriage failed. He was hanging out with actors too much. Huh? Upon getting off the plane we exchanged best wishes. I totally forgot about this encounter until my return. Explaining the encounter to Chula, she suggested we google his name and lo and behold....

Chile is a country that is developing rapidly and has many positives but the negatives of massive pollution, crime, poor working facilities and a career step in the wrong directions made us decide to stay in BoCoMo. The offer may or may not come, but if it does not, then I have less to explain about why I am not taking the job. America has lots of problems, but we are staying put.

In other news big ups to CH for setting a new standard for racing. *Please note BH I am still not a hippie but avoiding this...
