Dirt Love

Traveled to St. Joe State Park for the first race of the NORBA Series. The trip was worth it because I traveled from STL with Youcannotfixstupid (YCNFS). I actually got to a race on time and made it to the start before they said go. The first 3 miles of the course was like riding in pudding or "swimming in gravy," which my nephew once claimed was impossible. The trail then opened up to twisty single track with some climbs, a tunnel, a few jumps and 3/4 mile of paved trail, which was a nice relief to stretch out the back and snack. The early season has not be conducive to riding lots of miles on the dirt which meant I spent most of my time pinballing off rocks. The mud was scary. YCNFS told me that the area is just a "little different" because of all the lead mines. I tried to keep my exposure to the mud at a minimum because having even less cognitive ability would mean the dog would be feeding me. After the third lap I was really looking forward to a drink from the cooler but some bastard stole it. Whoever you are I hope you get a good kick to the crouch someday for no reason. So I headed out on my fourth lap on empty, and expert riders passed me and one cramped on a climb and fell over in pain. How do you do that to yourself? Thirty-two miles in pudding the first weekend in March was good. The best part was YCNFS bought me dinner because of this. Thanks!
